A letter from Lisa Boen, VP of Disaster Relief

Since 1998, Operation Compassion has emerged as a beacon of hope for those in desperate situations. With a footprint spanning over 100 national and international disasters, we have been instrumental in rebuilding homes, orphanages, schools, medical clinics and churches around the world. Our mission is to show compassion in times of crisis, from across the street to across the sea.

We specialize in mobilizing individuals and community groups to provide food and basic necessities to the poor and those afflicted by disasters, both natural and man-made. Operation Compassion partners with local churches, charities, and other local organizations to serve those affected by disasters as well as the homeless, hungry and many others in need.

Each year, more than 2.6 million people are served by Operation Compassion, our dedicated volunteers, and our strategically placed partners ready to assist in meeting the needs of those affected by natural and man-made disasters. To date, Operation Compassion has worked in 73 countries worldwide.

We've extended our reach and services to people in crisis in 48 states. We have helped hurting people get through critical disasters such as floods, fires, tornadoes, hurricanes and ice storms. Our commitment to providing relief and restoration services has been unwavering, and we continue to strive to make a difference in the lives of those affected by devastating events.

At Operation Compassion, we strive to find new ways to serve those in need and believe our latest project will impact the world. Operation Compassion Living Waters, water systems is providing clean, life sustaining water all around the globe to people that are drinking unclean and unhealthy water. These water systems are providing villages in third world countries with clean drinkable water, as well as rural areas right here in the USA.

Living Waters is also providing job skills to men in prisons and to those in rehabilitation facilities. These men are learning to build water systems and will have a chance to become forklift operator certified. We hope to duplicate this program in other cities such as Gallup, New Mexico in the very near future.
